Guardiolla's announcement to take over Manchester city had am impact




Pep Guardiola agreed to a three-year contract to become Manchester City manager in the summer.

The 45-year-old, currently at Bayern Munich, his will to replace Manuel Pellegrini, who will leave on 30 June ofcourse had an impact

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that the announcement of Pep Guardiola as the club's next manager had an impact on his side's form in the second half of the season.



Pellegrini's side only confirmed their place in next season's
Champions League with a 1-1 draw against Swansea City on
the final day this afternoon, and the Chilean believes that
the timing of the announcement affected the team.



"I wanted to win the Premier League this season, but the atmosphere from February when the club announced the new manager was maybe not the best atmosphere, we lost two important games at home when we were three points behind the leaders," Pellegrini told BBC Sport.



"The only option we had today was that we needed to get the point to get Champions League for next year." Pellegrini leaves Manchester City having guided the A statement from City said Chilean Pellegrini, 62, was "fully supportive" of the announcement being made.



Pellegrini succeeded the Italian in 2013 and took the club to a Premier League and League Cup double the following season.

This is the most powerful statement of intent from City's Abu Dhabi owners that they intend to construct a club to stand alongside any in
world football.

Guardiola is the game's most coveted coach with a history of
claiming the top prizes.
